Balak

Numbers 22:2-25:9

 

The King of Moab, Balak, calls upon the prophet Balaam to curse and bring down the Israelites.

On his journey, Balaam’s donkey sees the angel of G-d, and changes the course.  She is punished by Balaam.  Two more times the angel appears to his donkey, and they donkey attempts to alter their journey.  G-d speaks through the donkey and allows Balaam to hear.

When Balaam goes to curse the Israelites from a high place, a blessing comes from his mouth.  Two more times, two different locations Balaam attempts to curse the Israelites and blessings befall his lips.

The daughters of Moab charm Israelite men and they are found to be worshipping Peor.  Pinchas kills a high standing Israelite man who took a Midianite princess into a tent and stops a plague.
