Teen Youth Programs

Lev Shalom Temple Youth (LeVTY)  is a youth group organization for all Northern Arizona Jewish teens in the 8th-12th grades. The group meets for the purposes of educational, religious, social, and community activities. Lev Shalom Temple Youth is associated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and is part of NFTY-SW (Southwest region)

Advisors plan monthly local events that give our teens a safe and fun way to get together with their Jewish friends and to make new ones. Events are often hosted at the homes of our members.

​

NFTY-SW regional events provides our teenagers with an opportunity to interact with Jewish teens throughout the Southwest, from El Paso, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern Nevada.

​

Kids Night Out

Give your kids the night out they have dreamed of:  Pizza, Popcorn, Movies, Games, and Camaraderie – bonding with their Jewish peers is priceless.

​

Drop them off at 5pm and pick them up as late as 8pm (they are not obligated to stay the entire time).  They are sure to have a blast with us!

Tikkun Olam

Under the Leadership of Jamie Shadian, Social Action Chair, Congregation Lev Shalom is focusing our efforts on Climate Justice and Racial Justice.

CLS is one of only two Arizona synagogues to sign a Brit Olam with URJ’s Religious action center committing to take action.

Sisterhood

Congregation Lev Shalom in Flagstaff has an active Sisterhood. Members sponsor the oneg following services and special events, coordinate the annual Community Seder, and enjoy a Sisterhood luncheon. They run the synagogue gift shop. They are involved in most of the activities taking place in the Temple and are a vital part of our Congregation Lev Shalom.

They enjoy bi-monthly walks in our community.  

​

Sisterhood has held annual dinners and auctions, which have helped provide scholarships, ensuring our teens have the opportunity to attend regional NFTY events.

Brotherhood

The Brotherhood was created with the primary objectives of providing services to Congregation Lev Shalom and the Jewish community in Flagstaff as well as an outlet for Jewish men of Congregation Lev Shalom (CLS) to get together and socialize.

The Brotherhood enjoy getting together at a local bar and restaurant to informally discuss any and all topics of interest, in addition to making decisions on projects we are considering or have kicked-off.  Such projects include security and safety at our synagogue, and fundraising to those in the US and abroad recover from natural and man-made disasters.

​

In order to help defray the costs of CLS’s children attending Camp Stein, members of the Brotherhood and their significant others have volunteered to cook elegant dinners at the home of a member every few months. Proceeds from these events are put towards the Alfred Burk Camp Fund.  The Alfred Burk Camp Fund and supporting scholarships for Camp Stein will be a focus of the Brotherhood’s fundraising efforts.
